Fresh Install showing 'null' for gallery of thumbnails

edited April 2013 in Installing

I had Minishowcase working one server and moved the whole operation to a second site. The gallery on load goes to 'null'. I can run the slideshow and see the photos but no thumbnails.

[OS, browser, server and the version of your gallery and, if possible, a link to it. It eases the helping process.]

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Firefox: 15.0.1
IE: 8.0.7600.16385 (64-bit edition)

first server: Linux 2.6.32-20130307.60.9.bh6.x86_64 #1
GD Support enabled / GD Version bundled (2.0.34 compatible)
second server with problem: Linux / Apache 2.0 Handler/ 2.6.18-238.9.1.el5 #1
GD Support enabled / GD Version 2.0 or higher
Minishowcase version: v09b142

you should add your tracking code to the add_footer.php and not into libraries/ajax.init.js!

    Greetings Sebastian,

Thank you for reading and commenting back to me!

I am a newbie to php -- I did not make any changes to the ajax.init.js file. The only changes were to the add_footer.php as follows:

                 [Return to homepage]
KIRKVIERA@GMAIL.COM | Tracy, CA | (760) 495-2644
©2013 All Rights Reserved

Would you explain to me what I am to do please? I am totally lost why it worked on the old server and not the new one - with exactly the same coding.

    Thanks -- jan

    Hey Jan,

    in libraries/ajax.init.js you added

to the end of the script which results in a syntax error.
Just remove that code and all is fine. You already added it to the add_footer.php

    Best regards

    Morning Sebastian,

The new server service adds that to every page automatically for their usage. I cannot remove that code. That is added to every page we use but it has not stopped other items. Hmmmm, will have to think about this one? That does make sense -- the original server does not add that coding. That code adds an error to every page -- our professor tells us that is what we get for our free service for the semester.

then you should tell them not to add this to every file on that server. Obviously javascript, css or images should not be modified in the delivery process...

wait - you can try to replace this code in index.php

  • What would I replace

    <script src="libraries/script.loader.php?load=init" type="text/javascript"></script>

with?
• replace libraries/script.loader.php?load=init with libraries/ajax.init.js
  • Sorry - did not help -- now the gallery is not loading [plus the thumbnails]

imageI did go to minishowcase/index.php and replace:
    <script src="libraries/script.loader.php?load=init" type="text/javascript"></script>
    with: <script src="libraries/ajax.init.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

    Any other thoughts?

Thank you for efforts on this . . .

  • no - this just can't work.
you could use your working site and copy the generated ajax.init.js and gallery.css to the new site... but im not sure if it will work...

  • I would like to 'thank you' for trying to solve this situation. The generated ajax.init.js and gallery.css did not help.

I will have to give up.

Again, thank you for trying !!

  • Hi @janalford,

Try coping the whole ajax.init.js code inside two script tags like this:

    /* add ajax.init.js code here */

    That might work.
