Chrome compatibility issues? Workarounds please
  • Hello All,

I believe I may have found a possible bug with the way minishowcase works with Google Chrome. Or it may be known and need a work around. Any comments or possible work arounds would be great. I know Chrome isn’t huge yet, but I don’t want to alienate the few percent of users (myself included)

    Background.
I am building an ecommerce site using CubeCart 3, which appears to do a great job of building ecommerce sites but doesnt readily allow for actual content such as articles, blogs and galleries. I am no coder (never done any web stuff before other than the marketing).

I wanted a gallery that fit into my existing template as I have the various ecommerce stuff at the top and left side and because I wanted the gallery to feel part of the website, not something bolted on.

To that end I have used an iframe of 570 x 700 pixels which fits neatly into by template. I have adjusted the minishowcase config fileand set the width of the gallery to 560 pixels

    Problem.
When I browse to the image gallery directly (i.e www.fairyring.com.au/minishowcase everything works fine!!.

But, when I view it through the iframe it bugs out with Google Chrome (3.0.195.27). If I try and look at a 450x450 or 500x500 image the white box appears where it should, but the image is off to the right. Then if I select other images, even small ones that normally fit they also go off to the right. Wierder thing is that everything works fine in slide show mode.

It all works in IE, other browsers I’ve not yet tested.
My site is www.fairyring.com.au, and the gallery iframe is located here: http://www.fairyring.com.au/fairyring/index.php?act=viewDoc&docId=10
  • as you'd know if you searched the discussions and read the instructions, minishowcase is not suppose to work well inside iFrames.

it is not a google chrome issue, it does exactly the same on safari and any webkit-based browser.

if you want to use minishowcase, please follow the instructions on how to adapt it to a website. you'll find them in the instructions section and inside the code.
  • Thanks for the info. I had noticed your comments about iframes but AFTER i tried it and by then I saw it worked in IE and figured it must be a Chrome issue.

Anyway, thanks again, I appreciate your quick response and your efforts in making such a great tool for us.
  • I strictly recommend not to hold back until you earn enough cash to order all you need! You should get the mortgage loans or short term loan and feel yourself free
