So, this version will not only function as the original will, it will also allow sub-directories. I've also added a customization of my own that includes a header bar for the images with a close graphic.

In the case of the original minishowcase that one can download from the minishowcase website, the title of the gallery that should be showing the gallery_menu is "venezuela". In my case, you the "venezuela" title is not displayed at all.... I am guessing that this could be because of my php settings.

Does minishowcase require register_globals to be on?
Does minishowcase require safe_mode to be on?

I have all the necessary files on my server. PHP Version 5.2.10 - GD Support enabled - GD Version bundled (2.0.34 compatible)

I upload the minishowcase folder to the server. I change the permission folder cache to 777 & the galleries to 777 & gallery folders in the galleries directory.

I created the thumbnails that are in the galleries to the cache directory.
http://your-gallery/galleries/?thumbnails

So the folder in galleries called venezuela as default should show up in the webpage right?

No gallery or thumbnails are on the webpage. So what am I missing here?

I try to change many settings & get no where. So I delete everything and start over again.

Still no gallery or thumbnails.

Can we here go step by step, just to have the venezuela gallery to show up. Thanks.

I've tested the gallery on several users and each time they have trouble finding the close picture button and return to gallery.

I removed the original PHP echo lang text and am working inside the closeImageWin() function. What I can't find is how to relocate on the screen the location of the link (the top left corner being a bit inaccessible for my users). Any help with this would be appreciated.

Updated the config to set the base url. Set the cache dir permissions. Placed on a linux machine with PHP5 and GD installed. Everything runs ok with no errors to the page or the error_log, but the galleries don't display any thumbnails, this includes the Venezuela example. When you click a gallery, you see a very brief flash of a red border around an area I'd expect the thumbnails to be in, but then no thumbnails. It even creates the pagination for a lot of images, but no images!

If I turn on thumbnail caching, it creates the subdirectories appropriately in the cache folder, but with nothing in them.

I'd love to use this, if I can figure how to install it.
My download did not come with an installer, and I have not found any ".exe" file either. The instructions seem to hint that this needs to be on a webserver - but where?
I uploaded it to the webserver with a couple of my sites on it, It has php v 5.2 with many extensions, but I can't open up or read anything except with Notepad. I can't see a single image or find any user interface, installer or anything that makes it usable.
I also tried downloading the related "manager" user interface, but it also has no installer or exe file.

Currently I am researching a way to have a PHP script print the metadata of a JPG from a larger image to display a description of that image directly inside the frame. (I think the frame DIV might be called one of these names: #image_container, #img, .imagen; just so you know what I'm talking about)

I am looking at sites with information like this To help me figure out how to do this.

My thinking is there is a script buried somewhere in the code, probably in the /libraries subfolder, that is making a call to the /themes folder without providing the ROOT variable or a"../" first. When a user clicks something in the site that calls this script, I get an error log entry. I have no idea what the user sees at that point, but I'm assuming it's transparent to them as the theme is already loaded. In fact, I can cause the error message from my own IP address, and I see no hiccups.

Can you add a line in the requirement section about the short_open_tag value.

In the php.ini, the short_open_tag's parameter should be set on true. like this :
